Revelry is no less in Madhya Pradesh and same level of enthusiasm
can be seen amongst the citizens of this state as in the rest of North. Of
particular significance is the festivities in Indore where Holi is
celebrated continuously for five days. The last day is called the Pancham
Holi. The tradition has its historic roots. It is said the Maratha Holkars
who conquered the state brought with them Marathi tradition of Rangpanchami-
where the colour are played on the fifth day.
